BIG news & foodie cravings

I have a BIG announcement! ...

Dan and I are expecting our first baby! Arriving in November!

I told you it was big news!

This experience has been wonderful and adventure-filled already. I am learning all sorts of things in terms of how the body prepares for baby - of particular note, the desires of my belly!

As you know, I've always been a foodie. Now, I am a foodie with a purpose! I am one hungry girl. And believe it or not, even that has been a learning process.

In the first couple months, it took me some time to figure out just how many snacks I needed to pack each morning to get through the workday. I must admit that on more than one occasion, I had a hunger freak-out as I found myself ravenous during my commute home. Eventually, I found a balance for fueling my body. And packing extra snacks just in case is always a good idea.

And then there are CRAVINGS. A commonly asked question and topic of preggo discussion.

Much to Dan's amusement, here are the desires of my belly - a story in pictures....

(Much to my shock, this junk food item was a strong - and luckily brief - craving. Two separate purchases of an individually sized bag did the trick.)

And for food aversions ...

Here's to fueling my body for baby!

(PS - For those attentive readers with good memories, you might recall I've posted recipes of adult beverages in the past several months. No need to worry about baby. Dan has been my taste tester for said beverages. Meanwhile, I've been enjoying 'mocktails'.)

  7. Congratulations! Oh what a wonderful, WONDERFUL development in your life :-) I'm wondering if you'll pick a culinary-related name for the baby..? Bailey ['s Irish Creme]? Apple? [Beef] Wellington? Sage? Grey [Goose]? Basil? I think this just became an irritating-yet-humorous 9-month project ... (so so happy for you!!)

    1. Ron, my friend. Your comment makes me so happy! I love the idea of food inspired baby names. Irritating-yet-humoruous I think not. Talk about great ideas that I'll find myself trying to convince Dan of. We found out we are having a little GIRL! He already shot down my adorable food inspired girl name. Maybe the next one will stick?!? Thank you for your congrats. I'm all smiles and excitement!

    1. Thanks Andrea. I too want sushi. I will be glad when I can eat raw fish again. Until then, its veggie rolls for me. At least I get my pickled ginger fix. :)
